Lebanon has an open economy and a strong services sector. In recent years, the country has positioned itself as an important foreign trade hub for the Middle East. In 2010, the Lebanese GDP rose by 7.5% and forecasts for 2011 are looking up.

One of the sectors that is growing steadily in the country is construction. Licenses issued for construction increased by 52% in 2010 in comparison to 2009, and cement sales, for example, increased by 10% last year in relation to 2009.

Considering this scenario, the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is promoting the 16th International Construction and Environmental Technology Fair – Project Lebanon, to take place from May 31 to June 3, in Beirut.

This is one of Lebanon’s main events in the sector, gathering more than 600 companies from 25 countries, showcasing state of the art construction technology, materials, equipment and environmental technology.

Brazil shall have a 90 square meter stand, coordinated by the Ministry of External Relations – Tourism and Exhibitions Division and the Brazilian Embassy in Lebanon.
