Production numbers slid by 0.8% in August from July as a result of weaker output in six out of 14 locations, the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) said.

Rio de Janeiro – The 0.8% drop in seasonally-adjusted industrial output numbers in August from July in Brazil was a result of weaker output in only six out of 14 areas surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

The numbers are from the monthly industry survey Pesquisa Industrial Mensal – Produção Física Regional made public this Tuesday (10). Production slowed the most in the country’s biggest industry hub, São Paulo, and in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, both of which saw a 1.4% drop in output.

Industrial output was down 0.8% nationwide. It declined by 0.7% in Minas Gerais and Pará, 0.4% in Paraná and 0.1% in Ceará.
