Industry confidence increases

Measured by Fundação Getulio Vargas, the index reflects, mainly, the improvement in business owners expectations to the future.
São Paulo – The Industry Confidence Index (ICI) registered an increase of 4.2 points in June over May reaching 83.4 points. Measured by Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV), the index increased in 14 of the 19 sectors surveyed.
For FGV’s assistant superintendent for Economic Cycles, Aloisio Campelo Jr, the result indicates an improvement in business owners’ expectations, which has been going up since April. “A movement that can be defined as a reduction of pessimism. From now on, the return of confidence to average historical levels will depend on an effective recovery of domestic demand and decrease of uncertainties in the political scenario”, he assessed.
