Arab Chamber hosts lecture for business owners on Tuesday
10 de junho de 2016
Under the title Governance in Unpredictability: Paradoxes in Family-Run Businesses, consultant Fernando Curado will speak on precautions and opportunities for entrepreneurs in the current crisis scenario.
São Paulo – There are still openings for the lecture Governança na Imprevisibilidade: Paradoxos na Empresa Familiar (Governance in Unpredictability: Paradoxes in Family-Run Businesses), to be given by business owner and consultant Fernando Curado at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, next Tuesday (14th). He will speak on the precautions and opportunities in managing family businesses in the current crisis scenario of the Brazilian economy.
The topics to be discussed by the speaker are: Brazil will recover from the crisis; we have to look for signs of improvement – technology and innovation; priority during a crisis –preserve cash flow, invest while eyeing the future; keep up with the competition; and unity around a strong leadership.
Curado points out that the current scenario is one of “highest political volatility”, which results in significant impacts in an already weak economy. The country is in a standstill waiting on the impeachment process of suspended president Dilma Rousseff and there are uncertainties facing the government of interim president Michel Temer.
He underscores that companies need to be alert to political and economic events in the next few months to protect themselves from possible adverse occurrences and, at the same time, to be prepared to seize opportunities that arise. Although he advises on protecting capital flow, he warns that business owners should not let good business opportunities pass them by.
Curado graduated in Industrial Mechanical Engineering at PUC-Rio, achieved his master’s and doctor’s degree in North American universities Purdue and North Carolina State, respectively, was an executive at fuel and chemical products conglomerate Grupo Ultra, and was the president of mattress company Probel. He’s currently the founder and president of MSCI Governança e Estratégia and the author of books A empresa familiar a salvo de rupturas (Family business kept safe from breaks) and Governança Corporativa – conselho de administração eficaz para sociedades de capital fechado (Corporate Governance – efficient management advices for privately-held companies).
The lecture will take place at the Arab Chamber’s auditorium starting at 7 pm.
