Arab Chamber to hold workshop on economics, forex trading

The international scenario and its implications to Brazil will be one of the subjects of a meeting on August 3 at the organizations auditorium. Admission is free for member companies.
São Paulo – The macroeconomic scenario and foreign exchange operations will be the topics of a workshop at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday next week, August 3, at the organization’s offices in São Paulo.
The speakers will be two executives from the bank Brasil Plural: Paulo Val, chief economist of wealth management and Willian Yoshihiro, the partner in charge of corporate banking. Brasil Plural is a multiple bank focusing on financing operations, financial advisory and asset management.
The workshop will address the domestic and international economic scenarios. The starting point will be the challenging global situation arising from weak growth, problems in Europe, the United States elections and the scenario in China.
After that, the focus will shift to the implications to Brazil. “We will discuss the domestic scenario, with the current situation and the outlook on the fiscal front, inflation, national current accounts, and [economic] activity,” Val told ANBA by email.
The workshop will also touch on the Brazilian foreign exchange market. According to Yoshihiro, subjects covered will include the history of foreign exchange market volatility, the impact of recent local and international developments, the importance of proper advisory and of closing deals at the right time. Hedging mechanisms and their relevance will also be on the agenda.
The economist Paulo Val has over 17 years’ experience in financial markets, a degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Ufrj) and a master’s in Economics from Fundação Getulio Vargas in Rio. He also worked as an economist for the bank BBM and for Nobel Asset. He has been in his current position with Brasil Plural Gestão de Recursos since 2010.
Yoshihiro is a production engineer graduated at Industrial Engineer College (FEI) with 15 years’ experience in the financial market, mainly with the asset management department and client relations. Yoshihiro was a partner-director in charge of the Products, Client Desk and Foreign Exchange departments with Banco Original and also worked at Itaú BBA and BankBoston.
Brasil Plural was created in 2009 by partners with a successful track record in the Brazilian capital market. The bank is either a shareholder or majority shareholder in several financial companies such as Triar Gestão de Patromônio, the retail brokerage firm Geração Futuro and the reinsurer Terra Brasis Resseguros, among others.
The workshop at the Arab Chamber takes place in the morning at 9 am and is free of charge for members. Non-members pay BRL 100 (USD 30.55). Free parking will be availble at Rua Teixeira da Silva, 204, Bela Vista.
