The National Supply Company estimates an output of 49.67 million bags this year, a 14.9% increase over 2015.
Belo Horizonte – Brazil’s National Supply Company (Conab) released this Tuesday (24th) in Belo Horizonte its second 2016 coffee crop estimate. Production is expected to reach 49.67 million bags, a 14.9% increase over 2015. Each bag weighs 60 kilos.
This is Conab’s second 2016 crop survey. The first one, in January, predicted production to be between 49.13 million and 51.94 million bags. Conab carries out four coffee crop surveys each year. The next report is due in September.
According to Conab, output will increase due to a bigger planted area and favorable weather conditions. Crop yield should be 25.58 bags per hectare, up from 22.5 bags per hectare last year.
