Economic expectations improve

Rio de Janeiro – The predictive compound economy indicator (Indicador Antecedente Composto da Economia - Iace) calculated by the Brazilian Economics Institute at think tank Fundação Getulio Vargas (Ibre/FGV) alongside United States’ The Conference Board (TCB) was up 1.2% in Brazil. It was the third straight monthly increase, after it had climbed 1.1% in March and 0.2% in February.
Ibre/FGV economist Paulo Picchetti said the result reflects an improvement of expectations. “In April, the Iace remained on the upward trend seen in the two preceding months, reflecting an improvement in most of its expectations components,” he said in a press release. That improvement, he claimed, is a consequence of the ongoing political transition “amid a scenario of reduction of short-term uncertainty.”
