São Paulo – Two units of the A-29 Super Tucano military turboprop aircraft, manufactured by the Brazilian manufacturer Embraer, were delivered to Lebanon’s army last week, The Daily Star reported. The delivery is part of an order for six units of the plane.
The order was placed in 2015 and made public in that year’s edition of the Dubai Air Show in the United Arab Emirates, as ANBA reported at the time. The deal was entered into in partnership by the Brazilian plane maker and the United States’ aerospace technology Sierra Nevada.
Embraer made the six aircraft at its Jacksonville, Florida unit and delivered them to Sierra Nevada for customization. The United States government approved the deal and is tasked with actual delivery of the units to Lebanon. Lebanese pilots have undergone training in the USA.
