Etihad raises USD 500 million

The Abu Dhabi-based airline and partner companies raised the funds through the issuance of bonds in the market.
São Paulo – Airline Etihad Airways, from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and partner companies raised USD 500 million through the issuance of five-year bonds, according to information published Wednesday (25) by news agency Reuters.
The funds will be used for capital expenditure, fleet investments and refinancing. In last September, Etihad and its partners had already raised USD 700 million through the issuance of bonds.
Besides Etihad, the group of companies that participated in the bond issuance includes airberlin, Air Servia, Air Seychelles and Alitalia, companies in which the airline from Abu Dhabi holds equity stakes.
“This transaction shows the strength of that grouping, as well as the strength of the individual members, said Eithad’s president and CEO James Hogan, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
