Germany to grant EUR 145 million loan to Tunisia

The funds will be allocated to agriculture and renewable energy projects in the North African country.

Tunis – Germany is granting a 145 million euro loan for Tunisia to roll out agriculture and renewable energy projects; 29 million euros will consist of donations. The money will be made available via two agreements for financial and technical cooperation that have been signed on this Friday in Tunis, according to Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Tunisian-German financial and technical cooperation commission had its 10th meeting on May 28 and 29, 2015 at the Ministry’s offices in Tunis. The agenda covered ongoing projects and the bilateral cooperation scenario. On that occasion, the 145 million euro loan was verbally discussed.

The cash supplied through agreements of this kind is allocated to priority fields such as water, agriculture, the environment and sustainable development, renewable energies, regional development, good governance practices, and jobs creation.
