Industrial costs up 2.2%

Indicator measured by the National Confederation of Industry went up in Q1 of this year over the end of last year. But there was a slowdown in the surge of costs.
Brasília – The Industrial Cost Indicator increased 2.2% in Q1 of this year in comparison to Q4 2015. According to the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), there was a slowdown of industrial costs. In the previous period, the increase had reached 3.2%. In the comparison with Q1 2015, the indicator went up 12.3%.
For the CNI, the increase of 2.2% earlier this year was driven by the hike in the costs of energy, working capital and taxes. Industry’s energy costs went up 8.7%, working capital costs climbed 5.7% and taxes increased 4.2%. Production costs, comprised of costs with wages, energy and intermediate goods, climbed 1.7%. According to CNI, the survey shows that the increase affected the competitiveness of the Brazilian industry in the global market.
