Poultry exports climbed 16%

São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports increased 16.2% in volume in October over the same month of 2016, according to date released this Friday (3) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). In all, 365,500 tons of fresh and processed poultry were shipped.

Revenues generated by the shipments last month reached USD 634.4 million, up 24.6% over the same period of last year. In October of last year, export revenues reached USD 509.1 million.

From January to October, exports totaled 3.6 million tons, down 0.5% than in the same period of 2016. Revenues generated by the exports increased 7.2% in the same comparison, to USD 6.1 billion.

“With this result, we’re close to offset the losses of this year full of adversities, and maintaining the outlook of a year with a positive result in both volume and revenues,” said the CEO of ABPA, Francisco Turra, in a statement.
