Spending by Brazilians abroad declines

Travelers spent USD 1 billion in other countries in April, way below the USD 1.6 billion spent in the same month of last year.
Brasília – Brazilians spent USD 1.076 billion abroad in April, reported the Brazilian Central Bank (BC) this Tuesday (24). This is the lowest amount for the month since April 2009 registered USD 770 million. In the same month of 2015, spending totaled USD 1.644 billion. In the first four months of this year, spending by Brazilians abroad totaled USD 4.048 billion, against USD 6.876 billion in the same period of 2015.
The revenues from spending by foreigner travelers in Brazil totaled USD 475 million last month, against USD 444 million in April 2015. From January to April, this type of revenue totaled USD 2.320 billion, against USD 2.081 billion in the same period of 2015. With these results, the international travel balance between Brazilian spending abroad and spending by foreign travelers in Brazil had a deficit of USD 602 million in April and of USD 1.728 billion in the first four months of the year.
