Tunisia to scale down vehicle imports
17 de novembro de 2017
The government and the sector signed on a reduction of 20% on orders of imported vehicles to aid the trade balance.
Tunis – Tunisia will reduce in 20% vehicle imports in 2018, announced the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Hichem Ben Ahmed. The action aims to, according to information published by news outlet Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP), combat the worsening of the trade deficit and the decline of the African country’s reserve currency.
The agreement to lower imports was made between the Ministry of Trade and the automakers. The secretary also asked the sector to contribute with the improvement of the foreign trade, exporting auto parts produced in Tunisia to the plants of other countries.
