São Paulo – The United Arab Emirates has 11,755 active construction projects that, together, are valued at USD 818.2 billion, according to information released this Monday (27) by BNC Network, a market research company based in Sharjah, in the Arab country.
The sum accounts for 33.6% of all active projects across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the bloc comprising Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and the UAE. The UAE accounts for 52% of the total number of projects. The country is the region’s second biggest economy, trailing Saudi Arabia, but its construction industry trumps all.
The consulting firm factored in urban construction projects – which account for 85% of the total –, utilities, and oil and gas.
