Unemployment eases again in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro – Brazil’s saw a 12.4% unemployment rate in Q3, down 0.6 percentage point from Q2, as per the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua) issued this Tuesday (31) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).

There are 13 million jobless persons in Brazil today. The rate has dropped to its lowest this year. Year-on-year in Q3, unemployment climbed 0.6 percentage point. Average real income ended Q3 at BRL 2,115 (USD 649), in line with past averages of BRL 2,108 (USD 647) in Q2 and BRL 2,065 (USD 634) in Q3 2016.
