US food expo featured 35 Tunisian companies

The 62nd Summer Fancy Food Show happened in late June in New York City. Some of the exhibitors from Tunisia were olive oil exporters.
Tunis – During a meeting this Friday (8) in Tunis, the Tunisian minister of Industry Zakaria Hamad spoke with the prime minister Habib Essid about the Tunisian participation in the 62nd Summer Fancy Food Show, an industry exhibition held in New York from June 26 to 28.
Thirty-five Tunisian exporting companies participated, and 17% of them specialize in olive oil exports, as per a statement released by the government. The prime minister called for an increase in olive oil exports to the United States, according to the statement.
Also on the agenda was the investment scenario in Tunisia, particularly regarding industry, which saw its share of total investment increase by 23% in early 2016 from a year ago, especially in auto parts.
The minister also introduced projects designed to modernize industry infrastructure in the country. He said the rate of development of industrial zones has increased to 385 hectares this year, and is seen reaching 520 hectares in 2017. This growth will lead to labor market expansion, Hamad said.
